Five Renault ZOE crews entered for the 2017 e-Rallye Monte-Carlo
24 October 2017
For the fourth year in a row, Renault has entered a team of ZOEs for the e-Rallye Monte-Carlo which is reserved for zero-emission vehicles. Five ZOEs will take part in the 2017 event which starts in Fontainebleau, near Paris, on October 25 and concludes in Monaco on October 29. Having secured victory in 2014 and 2015, ZOE is targeting a return to the podium’s top step thanks to a line-up of five highly-motivated, well-prepared crews, including one that comprises two members of France’s Republican Guard, as well as the all-lady pairing of Inès Taittinger and former Rallye Monte-Carlo-winning co-driver ‘Biche’.
The pioneering spirit behind the organisation of the FIA-sanctioned e-Rallye Monte-Carlo leaves plenty of scope for human endeavour and technologies of the future. Open to non-polluting, zero CO2-emitting vehicles, the 2017 rally has attracted a field of 38 cars that will start their journey across France in Fontainebleau, south of Paris, before finishing in Monaco following two competitive sections that incorporate the famous Col de Turini.
The crews of the five Renault ZOEs – who will benefit not only from the longest driving range of any currently-available mass-market electric vehicle, but also from the unique driving enjoyment and performance delivered by the model – will pay a courtesy call en route to the pilots of France’s Patrouille de France aerobatic team in Salon de Provence.
With more than 80,000 registrations since its launch, ZOE is Europe’s best-selling electric car and, in the hands of the five crews entered for the 2017 e-Rallye Monte-Carlo, is targeting a top result in the Principality. This year, one of the squad’s cars will be shared by Inès Taittinger, who contested the Le Mans 24 Hours in 2016, and experienced rally co-driver ‘Biche’ who will bring her navigational skills to the table as the lady pairing bids to claim the week’s top prize for Renault.
