A record field for the Clio Trophy France Terre at Langres

The ever-popular Clio Trophy France Terre will welcome a larger than ever field for round three of its calendar at Rallye Terre de Langres Haute-Marne. With seven drivers capable of heading into the summer break at the top of the general classification and several experienced competitors on this route, it promises to be an extremely open and competitive weekend.

20 July 2022

This week, 33 crews head to Langres for a meeting that could considerably shape the outcome of the title race before the final push.

Second at the Causses and Castine, Florian Bouchonneau will set off hoping to keep the trophy lead and take the last step that separates him from the podium's top step. His mission, however, will be challenging as his closest pursuers, Florian Condamines and Jean-Paul Monnin, who have already won this year, will try to do it again to put the hammer down.

Sam Taveneau is also determined to make up the ground he lost after retiring from the previous rally. Coleader of the Jean Ragnotti Power Stage classification, the Malagasy Faniry Rasoamaromaka will also try to get into the fight at the sharp end despite his lack of experience in Langres while Julien Pontal will use his knowledge of the route to continue to improve his performance.

Third in this rally last year, Spain's Marcel Abad will try to confirm his good feeling on the roads of Haute-Marne, but he will have to face a lot of outsiders eager for revenge. Among them, the Juniors Maxime Lafon, Mika Rasoamaromaka, Baptiste Panissié and Mattéo Chatillon, all novices in Langres, unlike Bastien Bergounhe. There will also be Benjamin Boulenc, Emmanuel Guinchard and Vincent Favre-Miville relying on their previous experiences to surprise their rivals while Jean Lavigne, Thomas Mouysset, Maxime Salin, Sébastien Studer and Inès Tamisier will look to score their first points of the season.

Gentlemen category leader after finishing fourth overall at Castine, Laurent Reuche will also want to be in the battle. Former class winner in Langres, the 2011 Swiss Champion will face Lilian Vialle, Éric Royère, Christophe Rocard and Belgium's Claudie Tanghe. Twelve months after finishing in the top five of the event, Grégory Perrard will complete the line-up in the category on his return to the trophy.

Seven drivers will make their debut in the Clio Trophy France Terre this week. Alexandre Gransagne, Ludovik Casciani and David Gerard, who have past Langres experience, could spring a surprise on their first appearance, as could Ludovic Godard, currently second in the Michelin Amateur Trophy. In the Junior category, Aurélien Richard will also rely on his knowledge to upset the hierarchy, but novice Clément Gegout and Belgium's Lander Dhaene, fifth in the Belgian Junior Rally Championship last year and entered in the tarmac trophy in Le Touquet, will also be forces to be reckoned with.

Title holder Quentin Ribaud will also be at the start to continue his official programme with Clio Rally4 in the French Gravel Rally Championship, whilst reigning FIA ERC3 and FIA ERC3 Junior Champion Jean-Baptiste Franceschi will also compete with the same model.

The Rallye Terre de Langres Haute-Marne kicks off on Saturday with two identical loops of three stages on the opening 76.20-kilometre leg. On Sunday, two further timed sectors, starting with the 20.09-kilometre Jean Ragnotti Power Stage, will be driven twice to bring the competition route to 131.15 km before the afternoon finish in Langres.
