RENAULT KANGOO, A FAMILY AFFAIR

The first Renault Kangoo rolled off the assembly lines at the Maubeuge plant in 1997, inventing the segment of leisure-activity vehicles, with its unique, practical design and innovative sliding side door.

25 years later, available in 50 countries around the world, Renault Kangoo has sold over 4.4 million units, of which 4 million built in Maubeuge, part of Ampere ElectriCity. It has also been produced in Argentina for the South American market for 25 years. Renault Kangoo is the best-selling electric vehicle in its segment, with over 100,000 units sold since 2011 in Europe.

The Kangoo family has expanded over the years, broadening its appeal for a wide range of customers.

Ideal for both family use and passenger transport, Kangoo delivers a highly comfortable ride with its independent, modular seating and renowned interior space. On the longer Grand Kangoo version, the seven real modular seats allow no fewer than 1,024 different configurations.

Kangoo Van is the perfect business partner, with key innovations such as the “Open Sesame” door revealing a best-on-the-market 1.45m side opening, the Easy Inside folding roof rack, the three front seats with folding central backrests forming a mobile desktop and almost 60 litres of interior storage space, including the Renault Easy Life drawer.

Kangoo Van is also available as a crew van and in a longer L2 version. A platform-cab version – unique on the market – is also available, paving the way for a wide range of customisation options by Renault's approved bodymakers.

The Maubeuge plant builds all members of the Kangoo family, both internal combustion and 100% electric versions, for which the batteries are assembled on site.

LA POSTE, BUYER OF THE 4 MILLIONTH RENAULT KANGOO

On Thursday 14 December 2023, Heinz-Jürgen Löw, SVP, Light Commercial Vehicles, Renault brand, Luciano Biondo, VP Industrial Operations of Ampere ElectriCity and Luiz Quinahla, Industrial Director of Ampere ElectriCity and Director of the Maubeuge plant, presented the Renault Kangoo E-Tech electric car keys to Eve Pietriga, Chief Executive Officer of VEHIPOSTE and Betty Didierdefresse, VEHIPOSTE Operations Director, a subsidiary of the group La Poste. This Renault Kangoo is the 4 millionth unit built at Maubeuge since 1997.

La Poste is one of Renault's historic customers. For over a century, the French post office has been using Renault light commercial vehicles for the delivery of postmail and parcels to the French people.

A pioneer in electric mobility, La Poste has been using electric vehicles since 1904. A key partner in the development and success of Renault's 100% electric LCVs, it stands today as a world leader for its all-electric fleets.

La Poste joined the Renault Express electric programme in the 1980s, going on to run the largest fleet of electric vehicles from 2011, primarily with Kangoo Z.E. The relationship between La Poste and Renault is first and foremost a virtuous partnership that has played an important role in the brand’s position as a pioneer and leader in this field.

The historic yellow colour used by Renault Kangoo to deliver letters and parcels has even become iconic for Japanese customers, for whom the vehicle is particularly popular, and a limited edition "La Poste" was even sold in Japan in 2015 (150 units).

"It was a huge pleasure to present La Poste, a historic customer of the Renault brand, with the keys of the 4 millionth Renault Kangoo built at the Maubeuge plant and it gives us great pride to say that the cooperation between our two companies began over a hundred years ago.

What's more, we share many common values. We are both French companies dedicated to international mobility and committed to bringing our customers increasingly innovative and sustainable solutions."

Heinz-Jürgen Löw, Senior Vice President, Light Commercial Vehicles, Renault Brand
